My own quotations!

September 9, 2008

One of my hobbies is reading quotations and writing my own. Over the years, I”ve maintained a file containing my own quotations. It is time to share them!

Serious quotes:

  • The secret to achieving success is to inculcate good habits.
  • All your problems and all the world’s problems are in your head; likewise, all the solutions are also in your head.
  • Talk is cheap, unless you walk it!
  • Happiness should be a byproduct of your actions, not the goal of your actions. So should money.
  • Be optimistic – life is always a win-win.
  • Exercise builds muscle – remember that your heart is a muscle.
  • I do not judge other peoples lives; I only judge mine.
  • I don’t want to lead a life of mediocrity or a life of self-indulgence.
  • Once you judge someone as such-as-such, you can never have a satisfactory, quality relationship with that person. The extent of dissatisfaction in the relationship is proportional to the extent to which you judge that person. The only way to fix the relationship is to un-judge him/her. Mark Twain said “familiarity breeds contempt”. It’s true, and it’s because we tend to judge people who become familiar!
  • Like begets like, love begets love, optimism begets optimism, courage begets courage, good begets good, peace begets peace and life begets life.
  • Life is an opportunity to serve, to make the world a better place.
  • The best investment one can make, which will yield life-long returns, is in oneself.
  • To implement grand ideas, grand actions are required.
  • I am a warrior, not a worrier.
  • Every once in a while, one must ask oneself if one is living in the present, and not in either the past or the future.
  • Every once in a while, one must ask oneself, whether one is focused on what’s important and what matters most.
  • The general mood (amount of pleasantness, quality of thoughts, etc) you are in is tied to your perceived quality of life (i.e., how well your life is going, or how difficult/frustrating it is). When you find yourself in long spells of bad/low mood, fix your life, not your mood. (You should treat the disease, not the symptom, unless the symptom comes in the way!)
  • The only thing that comes between the life you currently lead and the life you wish to lead is your willpower.
  • Your weaknesses will harm only you, but your strengths will benefit the world!
  • Consider hard work as its own reward, and you’ll go places.
  • Every day matters.
  • Every thought matters.
  • I realize that I am happy whenever I do what I am supposed to do. Hmm… may be that’s the secret to happiness – do what you are supposed to do. Usually, doing what you are supposed to be doing is difficult. May be that’s why so many people are unhappy – because they take the easy route!

Humorous quotes:

  • It is hard to disappoint a cynic.
  • Good chemistry leads to good physics.
  • You are successful if you can afford Starbucks.
  • Nobody is perfect, and I am not a nobody.
  • I am not perfect. Close, though.
  • The word seperphic is not in my dictionary!
  • The secret to happiness is low expectations.
  • Nothing is Rocket Science, except of course, Rocket Science.

Serious and Humorous quotes:

  • I want to achieve greatness because I want to practice humility!
  • The past is inevitable.
  • One of the many ironies in life is that you get true appreciation only when you do something without expecting any appreciation.
  • My life is a movie, and yes, I am the hero.
  • Difficult is the new easy.
